Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

The Intensive Care Unit at CKC provides comprehensive and continuous care, including monitoring and treatment, for patients who are critically ill or in an unstable condition. The ICU is staffed by a dedicated team of specialists including ICU and nephrology consultants, nurses, and physical therapists, as well as consultants from various surgical and medical specialties who are available for consultations as needed.

  • Management of Critically Ill Nephrology Patients: Care for patients with acute or chronic renal failure or impairment.
  • Comprehensive Critical Care: Management of patients with severe medical and/or surgical conditions requiring intensive monitoring and intervention.
  • Postoperative Care: Specialized management for patients after renal transplantation or other surgical procedures.
  • Airway Management and Mechanical Ventilation: Expertise in airway management and the use of mechanical ventilation.
  • Vascular Access: Proficient in procedures including ultrasound-guided central venous cannulation, peripheral venous cannulation, and arterial cannulation.
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR): Skilled in both Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
  • Nutrition Management: Providing enteral and parenteral feeding for patients.
  • Acute Pain Management and Sedation: Ensuring comfort and proper sedation for critically ill patients.

Equipment:

Our ICU, featuring four beds including two private rooms, is equipped to provide optimal patient care. Each bed is outfitted with the following:

  • Vital Signs Monitoring: Continuous monitoring of ECG, blood pressure (both invasive and non-invasive), and oxygen saturation.
  • Oxygen Outlets & Suction: Available at each patient station for immediate access.
  • Hemodialysis Machines: On-site for patients requiring dialysis.
  • Infusion Pumps and Syringe Pumps: For precise drug infusion and management.
  • Mechanical Ventilator: Capable of various ventilation modes for both spontaneous and controlled ventilation.
  • Cardiac Resuscitation Equipment: Ready for use in emergencies requiring cardiac intervention.
